"The stress around food is often worse than the food itself"

I graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in biology. Following completion of my degree, I chose to follow a close passion of hers by pursuing a Master's degree in applied nutrition at Sage Graduate School in Upstate New York. Combining my dual degrees to promote the overall wellness of others became my primary focus as a practitioner. I have also completed all course work from the Institute for Functional Medicine.

In Practice:

In practice, I focus on educating her patients on the pathophysiology of their conditions, reviewing comprehensive lab work and emphasizing lifestyle, diet and supplement support when appropriate. Focusing on the root causes of inflammation, autoimmune disease, irritable bowel syndrome, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, candida overgrowth, food sensitivities and leaky gut, amongst other diagnoses.

Company Affiliations:

I am an advisor for Fparticle,  a collection of plant-based organic superfoods in powder form, engineered to be delicious and effective.  Backed by research to help customers research their health needs in the most convenient ways.

My exposure to functional medicine started at a young age. When I had a cold, my mother, a compounding pharmacist, sent me off to school with Echinacea and vitamin C. My father, an exemplar dentist, further guided me as I searched for newer paths to achieve overall wellness as a competitive athlete and uncovered my passion for optimizing the body. I later realized it was my parents’ wisdom that would evolve into the mantra I share with my patients: “The stress around food and lifestyle is often worse than the food or event itself. ”

My beautiful puppy, Berkeley, makes everything in my life more balanced. I enjoy hiking, playing tennis, golf, live music, traveling to new locations and spending time with my family. I am a foodie, and my goal is to guide my clients toward a healthy relationship with food and bring them to a place where food restriction is not necessary.

My wonderful husband (Matthew) and I were married during the COVID-19 pandemic; boy do we have some stories! You will often hear me mention him (or even guest star) him on my podcast as "Young Matthew". Family has always been the most important thing to me. A question I often ask my clients is what is the why for them. What brings them joy and why do they want to put in the work to regain their health and wellness? And the answers are transformative. My why is my husband and our little family. What is your why?
